We are the veterans' advocate and have helped make today's veterans' benefits a reality. Your support helps us continue that path. Membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars entitles you to a free personal accident protection policy; personal assistance securing government benefits and entitlements for veterans; and consumer discounts on vision, dental and chiropractic care and prescriptions. Membership includes a subscription to the VFW Magazine and also enables you to join the VFW Credit Union. 
VFW membership eligibility consists of three criteria:
1. United States Citizenship
2. Honorable Military Service
3. Recognized Service in Overseas Conflict: Campaign Medal, Service in Korea, Hostile Fire, or Imminent Danger Pay Zone.
Checking eligibility is easy. Use our eligibility listing, which lists campaign periods and authorized service medals, to determine eligibility for membership. If an applicant claims entitlement to a medal not shown on the individual's separation papers, that person may request verification and correction of records by submitting a Standard Form 180, (Request Pertaining to Military Records). Form 180 also may be used to replace lost separation documents.
Once eligibility has been established, joining is easy. Membership dues for Post 9171 is $30 a year. To join the VFW, contact the Post Quartermaster, Robert Farmer, at (903) 833-5140. You can download a Membership/Life Membership Application here to fill out.
