To configure Outlook 2003 ...THESE INSTRUCTIONS ASSUME YOU USE VZINET to CONNECT to the internet
and BOTH your incoming and outgoing servers say mail.vzinet.com.
IF YOUR PC DOES NOT CONNECT through VZINET OR your
incoming or outgoing mail servers are NOT mail.vzinet.com - make a
note of everything your email client says! If you
change the wrong field for another email provider or ISP provider,
we can not help you resolve that! The best suggestion is to
write down the information before you change it. You would
typically ONLY need to change the information relative to
mail.vzinet.com.
- Open Outlook 2003.
- Click the Tools menu, and select
E-mail Accounts...

Select VIEW OR CHANGE EXISTING E-MAIL ACCOUNTS and click
Next.
- CHANGE the necessary fields to include the following
information:
Server Information
Incoming mail server (POP3):
pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
smtp.gmail.com
- Click the Advanced tab, and check the
box next to This server requires an encrypted
connection (SSL) under Incoming Server
(POP3). If 995 is not then displayed in the little
box, you will need to type it in.

- Check the box next to This server requires an
encrypted connection (SSL) under Outgoing
Server (SMTP), and enter
465 in the
Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
- Click OK.
- Click Test Account Settings... After
receiving Congratulations! All tests completed
successfully, click Close.
(You will have to be logged on (have an active internet
connection) for this Test Account Settings to work!)
- Click Next, and then click
Finish.
- You may be asked to re-enter your password the first
time you send or receive email - just type in the password
as we've indicated to you in previous correspondence!
Congratulations! You're done configuring your client to send
and retrieve messages.
